Dominic Jones's Little Black Book

Bettys Tea Rooms, Harrogate
Bettys has real nostalgia for me as my grandparents used to take me there. At Easter it makes the most amazing giant chocolate egg, which would impress Willy Wonka himself. bettys.co.uk

Lello, Porto
This has to be the most beautiful bookshop in the world and one of the finest examples of art nouveau architecture. It feels a bit like you've been transported into the world of Harry Potter! 00 351 22 200 2037

The Trout, Oxford
This was my family's favourite pub when I was a child. The views over the river are amazing. It was also used a lot in the television show Inspector Morse. thetroutoxford.co.uk

Brunswick House Café, London, SW8
My new favourite place to eat in London. The food is beautiful - seasonal and fresh - the menu changes weekly and every piece of furniture and curiosity is available to buy, from the seats to the loo-roll holders. brunswickhousecafe.com

Be Tulum, Mexico
This hotel is a dream - the perfect place to stay if you want to relax and unwind. I went there for New Year and I'm dying to go back. Tulum in general is my favourite place to go on holiday. Paradise! betulum.com

B4 It Was Cool, New York
Brilliant shop, awful name. Specialising in antique industrial lighting, it feels a bit like a museum but one where you can take it all home with you. b4itwascool.com

Sbaiz Lignano, Italy
One of the world's most sophisticated stores, it houses an incredible selection of art, design and fashion. It's places like this that the word chic was invented for. sbaiz.it
