The spring/summer 2012 catwalks were awash with under-the-sea themed fashions, but no designer took the theme to its natural conclusion quite like Vancouver mum, Monika Naumann, who has set up a business selling every little girl's fantasy: a mermaid tail swimsuit.
The tails, which come in a variety of colours and textures, are custom-made to fit perfectly and include a 'Mono Fin' so they can we worn for actual swimming - rather than just posing on rocks and brushing your hair.
Although the 3-Fins website claims the tails are not just for little girls, (Naumann recently spoke to Today.com about the amazing workout benefits of her tails), we're not sure that either we, or our fellow lane swimmers are ready for a full-grown mermaid assault. Plus, they present a whole new level of humiliation to the already undignified process of trying to exit the pool gracefully.
And that's not to mention the hefty price tag. At 250 Canadian dollars (£160) a time, plus postage, the custom-made mermaid tail is perhaps for extremely pampered princesses only.
Still, if we were six year olds again, we could think of nothing batter to ask Santa for. Ariel, eat your heart out.
