Ready For Her Close-Up: Kim Sears

Yesterday's Wimbledon Final was quite painful to watch, with ordinarily unaffected spectators blubbing during Murray's tear-jerking speech. As sad as it was, the match was quite brilliant for people-spotting. My favourites were David and Victoria Beckham (for obvious can't-take-your-eyes-off-them reasons) and Andy Murray's girlfriend Kim Sears who, along with having the most expertly blow dried hair I've ever seen, did a great job on her make-up.

It's not that she was wearing huge amounts of it, it's just that she was wearing nice make-up that suited her. Sounds simple but so few women get it right. I like to call it a 'Bobbi Brown' face: a fresh, lively complexion that isn't extravagant, it just does what you want make-up to do; enhance your features without covering them up.

You could probably recreate this look using four products, and almost every make-up brand will have the essentials. Concealer to ease any discolouration (hold the foundation, you don't want to mask your skin), a bronzy-pink powder blusher placed high on the cheeks, a black eyeliner slicked on the top lashline and a little below, finished with some nude gloss on the lips. Simplify your morning routine, detox your make-up bag and give it a go. I'm going to spend the time I save trying to re-create that hair...
